Our Services -Waratah Respite Service

We provide the following services at three locations: Waratah Centre at Coffs Harbour, Seagulls at Woolgoolga and Banksia Cottage at Bellingen.

  1. Waratah, Seagulls and Banksia Cottage Day Care: Funded by Ageing, Disability and Home Care NSW. Provides activities for frail elderly people, people with dementia and adults with a disability. (click here for more information on Day Respite in Coffs Harbour )

  2. Evening Respite Service at Waratah Centre: Funded by National Respite for Carers Program (NRCP). Specific to younger disabled adults aged 19 – 55years. This respite focuses on support, social interaction, stimulating individual and group activities, developing / increasing client skills. (click here for more information.)  

  3. Flexi/ long day Respite at Waratah Centre : Funded by NRCP for carers who wish to access the service all day and or any part of the day  from Monday - Friday. This service is about providing options for carers who have interests/ employment/ education outside regular hours.

  4. Saturday Day Care at Waratah Centre: Funded by NRCP.  This service caters for the needs of frail elderly clients and adults with a disability. Open every Saturday from 9.30 – 3pm.

  5. Waratah Overnight Respite: Funded by Dept of Health and Ageing. Waratah has a 6 bed cottage attached to the day centre. Clients are entitled to 63 days of overnight respite care per year. (click here for more information)

Transport to each centre is provided via special disability taxis.  Activities officers provide planned daily programs which are designed to promote and maintain independence and confidence. Our clients socialize and interact with staff, volunteers and other clients in a supportive and friendly club-like atmosphere.

All clients’ special dietary needs are met; each centre employs staff to prepare a two course cooked meal each day.

Waratah has a lending library for carers to access material on a range of aged care issues and subjects including dementia.
