The formulation of a care plan including all special needs will be developed and discussed with the carer and client.

We'll discuss your needs and you'll decide how many days you wish to access the day service each week. It is our policy that all persons have equal access to respite care, taking into account your individual or special needs, your culture and your geographic location.

Priority of access: Those carers and clients most in need of respite services will have priority.

Funding

Day Care is funded by the Ageing, Disability and Home Care (ADHC)

A contribution is requested to cover expenses. The current contribution is $10 which covers transport, meals, and activities. No person is denied a service if they are unable to contribute.

The activities.

Day care is organised around a series of social activities. Various activities include music, yoga, exercises, guest artists, bowling, board games and bus outings. These are organised each day by staff who also consult with residents and day clients to achieve maximum participation and satisfaction. Everyone is invited to join in as they wish. Our team of both permanent and volunteer staff provide gentle and generous assistance to those who need it so all are able to participate. Banksia Cottage aims to provide these services in a caring and secure manner with a view to maintaining optimum independence and individuality.
