Seagulls is a client and carer focused community respite service, employing best care practice and staff who are experts in respite care for frail aged and disabled adults including those with dementia. On referral to our service, our registered nurses will make an assessment of the client and carer's needs. The formulation of a care plan including all special needs will be developed and discussed with the carer and client.

How can you access this service? You do not need an ACAT or doctor's referral for the day respite service. Carers, family members, service providers and health professional can refer. Contact Seagulls cottage to arrange a visit and fill in the required health and contact information. We'll discuss your needs and you'll decide how many days you wish to access the day service each week. It is our policy that all persons have equal access to respite care, taking into account your individual or special needs, your culture and your geographic location.

Funding

Day Care is funded by the Ageing, Disability and Home Care (ADHC)

A contribution is requested to cover expenses. The current contribution is $12 which covers transport, meals, and activities. No person is denied a service if they are unable to contribute.

The activities.

Day care is organised around a series of social activities. Various activities include music, yoga, exercises, guest artists, bowling, board games and bus outings. These are organised each day by staff who also consult with residents and day clients to achieve maximum participation and satisfaction. Everyone is invited to join in as they wish. Our team of both permanent and volunteer staff provide gentle and generous assistance to those who need it so all are able to participate. Seagulls Cottage aims to provide these services in a caring and secure manner with a view to maintaining optimum independence and individuality.
