Care and Nursing staff:
Waratah Respite Centre, Banksia Cottage and Seagulls have energetic and enthusiastic staff. Our manager is a Registered Nurse who is responsible for the day to day running of the services and facility infrastructures. On service days, a registered nurse is in attendance from 8.30 till 5 pm, and is on-call at other times.
Registered nurses monitor and document changes in client behaviour and assist carers by providing suggestions and strategies and helpful programs for the client. In consultation with client and carer (where appropriate) the R.N. makes referrals to other service providers and professionals.
Activities Officers
Activities officers are employed to provide structured programs which are designed to promote and maintain independence and confidence. Clients are encouraged to socialize and interact with staff, volunteers and other clients in a supportive and friendly club like atmosphere. Staff and volunteers provide activities which promote gentle mental stimulation and they encourage physical activities to meet individual limits. Clients are assisted with ADLs (Activities of Daily Living) and activities by staff and volunteers.
Staff Goals:
The Management, Staff and Volunteers are united in their goal of respecting the emotional, physical, cultural and spiritual needs of our valued clients and carers. We maintain a supportive environment, and our care standards are consistently monitored and maintained to the best current levels. (mission statement)
The Waratah Respite Service have an Occupational Health and Safety policy which requires that client residents, staff, volunteers and visitors live and work within a safe and healthy environment. We operate our respite services under the guidance of our organisation's policies and procedures which adhere to State and Federal legislation and regulations, Aged Care, NRCP and ADHC standards.
